Disabled Club Constitution

Name  

The Club shall be called St.Georges Disabled Cricket Club (hereinafter called the Club) and shall be resident at St.Georges Sports & Social Club. 

Aims & Objectives

The  aims & objectives of the Club are as follows

·        To promote and further the interests of Cricket, offering coaching and competitive opportunities for Cricket.

·        Equality and Diversity will be celebrated and no member will be discriminated against because of  their Gender, Ethnicity, Culture, Religion, Ability, Sexual Orientation; Age or any other irrelevant distinction

·        To promote the social networking of Cricket

Membership

Any person/s that express interest and actively support the objectives and purpose of the organisation are eligible for membership upon receipt of the agreed fees and registration documentation.

·        No member will be discriminated against because of  their Gender, Ethnicity, Culture, Religion, Ability, Sexual Orientation; Age or any other irrelevant distinction

·        Non-Disabled members are welcome and are eligible for voting, and running for an officer position.

·        Members shall have full access to this constitution upon request.

·        A person can become a member by contacting any of the current officers and signing up for membership.

·        A person remains in good standing by following the code of conduct of cricket as well as the constitution.

·        The Club, and its officers shall be in no way responsible for any injuries incurred to any participant during practice sessions, or during games.

·        During games and practice sessions, no misconduct of any form shall be tolerated. (see code of conduct and disciplinary procedure)

Officers

·        One Chairperson and elected officers are entitled to a one year term starting from the date of the AGM to be held in October of each year.

·        Only members in good standing may nominate, be nominated or vote.

·        Elections shall be of a secret ballot and require a simple majority of members present.

·        All officers shall retire annually but shall be eligible for re-appointment.

·        The Chairperson should be in charge of managing the committee.

·        The other board members shall assist the Chairperson in their duties, i.e. Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer.

·        All members of the board, including subcommittee spokespersons or nominated representatives, shall be present at the meetings where possible.

·        The Club Manager and Captain shall select players on the basis of their commitment to the club.

·        An officer may be removed from office if he/she fails to perform their duties.

 Operating Procedures

·        The Club shall meet once a month at a time set by the majority convenience.

·        Club games shall be scheduled according to weather conditions and conveniences.

·        Special meetings/events/games shall be called as needed by the board.

Finance

 

·        All funds raised by or on behalf of the Club shall be applied to further the aims and objectives of the Club.

·        Proper accounts shall be kept of all money received and paid out by the Club.

·        Accounts; balance, income and expenditure shall be presented to members at each meeting with statements forwarded to officers upon receipt to the treasurer.

·        Withdrawals/payments on accounts shall be signed by 2 officers one being the Treasurer.

Disciplinary Procedure

·        The officers shall elect a Chairperson and Minute Secretary prior to a disciplinary meeting. The Chairperson shall cast a second vote if required

·        The Member/s committing an offence shall be liable to penalties in the manner and as described hereafter.

·        For the purposes of these rules the expression ‘the member’ shall throughout these rules be deemed to mean and include not only any player, but also any member or official of the club or if appropriate any other person involved in any incident of possible misconduct occurring on or off the field of play, when they are representing or supporting the Club.

·        Any complaint or report will be investigated only if made in writing to the Secretary of the Club within 7 days of the alleged event.

·        Before any penalty is imposed there shall be a disciplinary hearing before the Disciplinary Committee of the Club. At least 7 days’ notice in writing of the hearing and of the alleged offence shall be given to the member.

·        The member shall be entitled to attend the hearing, or/and to be legally or otherwise represented and to call witnesses — as shall the club.

·        If at the hearing the Disciplinary Committee find the alleged offence proved it shall have the power to impose one or more of the following penalties:

1.              Reprimand/Warning - written or other.

2.              Suspension for one or more matches.

3.              Expulsion from the club

Life Members

  • Life membership shall be available to any person who has given outstanding service to the Disabled Cricket Club.
  • The Club may appoint life members at the AGM.
  • Each nomination for life membership shall be signed by two members of the Committee and shall be lodged with the Secretary/Treasurer at least twenty-one days prior to the AGM.
  • In the event that more than one nomination is received in any one year the Committee shall select the nominee or nominees it considers to be the most deserving and shall recommend such nomination(s) to the AGM.
  • A person so recommended shall be appointed a life member if he/she receives the support of seventy-five per cent of the delegates at the AGM.
  • A life member shall be entitled to all of the privileges of membership of the Disabled Cricket Club including the right to vote in general meeting and shall not be required to pay any subscription or membership fee.

This constitution was adopted by the committee on         11th January 2008
